The HM1-UD is a single-channel USB HART modem for configuring, calibrating and diagnosing HART field instruments from a PC or laptop. It presents any HART device to standard asset-management software — PACTware, FieldCare, FieldMate, SIMATIC PDM and other DTM/DD-based tools — over a plug-in USB connection, with no separate power supply and no serial port required.
Why this modem
- Works with the tools you already use — the supplied driver creates a virtual serial (COM) port, so the modem drops straight into PACTware, FieldCare, FieldMate, SIMATIC PDM and any DTM- or DD-based device manager.
- Truly portable — a compact USB-stick modem that plugs directly into a USB port (or a USB extension lead), ideal for a laptop bag, the calibration bench or the field.
- Bus-powered — a single USB connection carries data and power (under 0.25 W); nothing else to plug in.
- Fully isolated — a 2500 V galvanically isolated loop interface protects your PC, and the connection is polarity-independent.
- Point-to-point or multi-drop — acts as a primary or secondary HART master and supports multi-dropped loops.
Connecting to a HART loop
Two flexible flying leads with grabber clips connect the modem across a HART device or an appropriate loop load. Open your device-management software and the modem handles the HART physical signalling; your software does the rest.
